Question "Ares qui" translation
Hi Spanish friends,

sorry for talking to you in English but unfortunately I'm not that familiar with the Spanish language although I'd love to learn it proberly.

However, I want to ask you whether one of you could help me with the translation of the Kelly song "Ares qui". I love that song and I tried to translate it with some translation engines on the internet which didn't work that well most of the time.

As far as I got it the song is about some kind of street fight... Am I right? Could anybody post a translation please. It would be highly appreciated.

Hugs,
Rina

RE: "Ares qui" translation
Hi Rina,
here the translate of ares qui;

Get into the fever...
baby yeah
Get into the fever...
baby yeah

Hecho un limon a rodar (I have thrown a lemon down the street)
y a tu puerta se paró (it was stopped in your door)
y hasta los limones saben(and also the lemons know)
que nos queremos tu y yo (that you and me we are loved)

Get into the fever...

Por esta calle que vamos (on this street we go )
tiran agua y salen rosas (they throw water and grow pink)
y por eso la llamamos (for that it's called)
la calle de las hermosas (the street of the beautiful ones)

Ellos eran cuatro (they were four)
y nosotros ocho (and we are eight)
que palo nos dieron ellos a nosotros (they stuck a beating to us)
yo que era el mas fuerte (I was strongest)
me tire al mas flojo (I thrown to the weat one)
sino me lo quitan me sacan los ojos (if they do not help me, he removes the eyes to me)

Get into the fever...

A tu puerta somos cuatro (in you door we are four)
y los cuatro te queremos (and we all love you)
saca la mano y escoje (it removes your hand and you chooses one)
y los demás nos iremos (and the rest we go)

Happy

Thanks a lot for your help, radha. Knuddel

But may I ask you what exactly "ares qui" means, for I didn't find it in any dictionary, so I suppose it's a Spanish colloquial word?

RE: "Ares qui" translation
"Ares qui" no sabemos que significa, en español no significa nada. Lo que sí parece es que asi se llamaba un perro que tuvieron los kelly cuando eran pequeños, me suena que me dijeron esto hace poco tiempo pero no estoy muy segura.

RE: "Ares qui" translation
Sorry, I'm not very good in speaking Spanish but with the help of a dictionary I got that "ares qui" has no meaning in Spanish but that you think that the Kellys once had a dog which was named Aresqui, right?

Sorry for asking. ^^

RE: "Ares qui" translation
Hola, yo soy la que le preguntó a Kathy por el significado de Ares qui puesto que es mi canción preferida y me contó que pusieron ese nombre en honor a un perro que tuvieron y que querían mucho. El nombre del perro era ARRESQUI y es nombre vasco.

RE: "Ares qui" translation
Thank you, paddykelly, for the information.

Still, I think it's funny that they named the song after a dog although the song itself has nothing to do with a dog... Smile
